Portraits by Jenn: The Joy of Love: Day 13

13: routines

First thing in the morning when we wake up this where we go.
To the leather recliner so Hadleigh can hold Libby.
They are sweet sisters.
They love each other.
Libby's eyes light up so big and she smiles when Hadleigh talks to her.
It is so AWESOME.
They will sit here for 20 or 30 minutes sometimes before Libby starts to fuss.

Portraits by Jenn: The Joy of Love: Day 09

09: passions and hobbies

Cars are his passion.
Seriously.
He is obsessed.
He hoards them.
Carries armfuls everywhere he goes.
He likes trains too!
This car was from Santa.
While we were in California Santa came to visit us at Auntie Kim's house.

day 10: space- where they are comfortable

This is my baby's changing station.
This is where she is comfortable.
I'm not kidding.
Almost every time she is upset I can lay her here and she will stop crying.
She loves to look at the tree on the wall.
She gives me the BIGGEST grin when I lay her here to change her diaper.

I skipped day 09. I will come back to it. Haven't seen my hubby in two days to capture a photo of his hobby.

This is for anyone.

Portraits by Jenn: The Joy of Love: Day 08

day 08: gift from the heart
So Erik and I started trying to have a baby in December of '04.
I say we started "trying", really we just stopped preventing.
After a year or so we started fertility treatments.
Then we moved to Kerrville and took a little break.
In February of '06 I got pregnant and miscarried.
My husband bought me this:

He said we would never give up HOPE that the Lord would bless us with a child.

HOPE:
to desire something with confident expectation of its fulfillment

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace
as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the
power of the Holy Spirit."
Romans 15:13

A little over a year ago my good friend and her husband started trying to have a baby. They have had a lot of road blocks along the way. We have been praying and praying and praying for them.

One year ago this month I found out I was pregnant.

I was doing my Bible study one day and I just felt the need to send her my Willow Tree Figure of
HOPE!
I didn't even tell Erik I was sending it to her.
For my birthday in April he brought home another one EXACTLY like the one I had sent to her.
He STILL had NO idea I had given the first one away until I told him.
On November 2, 2010 this is the gift he helped give to me!

Portraits by Jenn: The Joy of Love: Day 07

day 07: generations

Get your loved one with all the generations of family that are close by.  If this is not possible due to military deployments or family not being close, then just tuck this prompt away for when everyone is close together again.

So I am also cheating a little on this one.
We actually did a GENERATIONS photo with my Grandma, my Mom, Me and Libby,
(we also included Hadleigh of course), when my Grandparents came to visit right after Libby was born.

I am so glad we captured these moments!
So cool!

It's not TOO late to join the FREE class:

Portraits by Jenn: The Joy of Love: Day 06

 day 06: who THEY love

So I'm cheating a little for the next two posts.
I'm trying to CATCH up!

Here is the assignment for day 06:
Besides you, who is the apple of his eye?  Is it your dog, the kids, his parents, his sibling?  Document them with their loved one! If the loved one is not close by, then have them hold a photo of their “beloved”…this can also work for loved ones who have passed away.

My kids LOVE their Mema.
She is the first person Hadleigh will ask for....after ME of course. :)
She takes them fishing and to the park and shopping and to McDonalds and she had to take them to see Santa this year b/c we were in the hospital.

When they are in trouble or hurt themselves (especially Hadleigh)
they will ask for Mema.

She is ONE special lady.
We are blessed to have her so close by.

Portraits by Jenn: The Joy of Love: Day 05

day 05: love to hate

So this was day 05's assignment:
"You KNOW your loved one does something that drives you NUTS (but you LOVE to complain about it and the day just wouldn’t be the same if you didn’t have to complain about it).  Capture it…if it is a non-physical thing, then just try to take a photo of something that embodies the idea."

I could not get this captured of my loved one {my hubby}, but I had him capture one of me.
This is ONE {of the many, I'm sure} thing that drives him NUTS about me, and he DEFINITELY loves to complain {make fun of} about me.

YES....he absolutely DETESTS my UGG boots.
I LOVE THEM.
BTW I am wearing Matilda Jane
Check them out!

They are THE MOST comfortable shoe I have ever worn in my whole life.
If I could afford it I would have a pair in most colors.

I KNOW they aren't that "trendy" and some people think they are over-rated.
I am a VERY cold-natured person.
These things are SO warm.

I LOVE them!!

JOIN "The Joy of Love" today.
Even though I am behind a couple of days it has forced me to capture things about my OWN family that I have neglected to do lately!

Portraits by Jenn: The Joy of Love: Day 04

04: what they wear

We were so EXCITED to get to adopt a BOY and a GIRL at the same time.
It has definitely been more fun shopping for the girl though. It seems as if there just isn't as much cute stuff for boys out there!

Naturally when we found out that we were expecting a girl I was pretty excited! Not because I didn't want another boy, but because I would get to use all the CUTE, ADORABLE, FRILLY and EXPENSIVE clothes I splurged on for Hadleigh!

Yesterday I put Hadleigh's FIRST Christmas dress on Libby to wear to church! Libby is in a different Season of clothes than Hadleigh was, but I am trying to at least let her wear most things, even if it's just once!

This photo was scanned in so it isn't GREAT. I could not find the digital images from their first Christmas.

So my "What they Wear" is
her BIG SISTER'S
clothes and shoes and panty hose and even her hair bows!!

I bought this dress and these sparkly shoes at Baby Gap! I was IN LOVE with them. They looked so pretty against Hadleigh's skin!

Portraits by Jenn: The Joy of Love: Day 03

 03: then and now

Isaac's first Valentine's Day photo. He was 8 months old. Cannot believe how much my baby has changed.

Hadleigh was 7 months old on her first Valentine's Day. She has stolen our hearts in more ways than one.  What a beautiful girl.

Today's camera tip was to crop in really tight.
CROPPING
Try cropping in really tight for today’s assignment.  Fill the frame with your subject’s face or just a portion of his or her face.  By cropping in tight with your camera you can eliminate distracting backgrounds.  You can either crop “in-camera” which means to get in really close while photographing, or you can crop using photoshop, picasa, elements or whatever photo editing program!

I didn't take these images today, but thought it was good for today's "then and now"
Here is a pic I took of Hadleigh yesterday that goes with today's camera tip.
This is my sweet little girl. So many expressions she has!
I cannot express how much these kiddos mean to me and have showed us what it means to
LOVE!

Portraits by Jenn: The Joy of Love: Day 02

02: how they look

I photographed Libby today because she is 3 months old.

She is PEACEFUL when she is sleeping.

She is HAPPY when she is awake

She gets SERIOUS when she's tired

So I decide to join this FREE 28-day "Class" that is put on by Willette Designs: http://www.willettedesigns.com/?page_id=2780

I NEED some motivation in my work.
Now that I am supposedly "PART-TIME" whatever that means in PHOTOGRAPHY world
I am lacking the "want-to"

So I thought this sounded like fun, and would force me to photograph my own family as well.

YOU CAN STILL JOIN

01: what they do

I chose to photograph my hubby b/c, well, I NEVER do!

I wanted to photograph him with our children.

He LOVES them.
He spends time with them.
He is the BEST Dad in the whole world.
